The Cost of On-Line Dating

Elizabeth Morris/ October 27, 2014/ Online Dating

The cost of on-line dating can be a little controversial as, if you are one that found a partner, got married and are living happily ever after, the cost would never be too great but, on the other hand, if you joined a site and have had several dates without finding a suitable partner, you may by now be thinking that the cost is not worth it. Online Dating costs though, do vary depending on which site you join and there is even the odd one or two that are free to join. Perhaps the first thing you should do before joining a site, is find out exactly what it is you are paying for and at least that way you will be prepared. Although many sites have a fee to join, they have additional fees if you want to set up a date with someone else on the site, sometimes even if you just want to chat to them, in which case the costs can quickly add up. There are web sites though, that compare the prices of different sites and so perhaps you would be better choosing your site by that rather than by your religion or ethnic status. These sites obviously are good if you are interested in finding someone that has similar interests as you, perhaps their hobby or other pastime is compatible to those you are looking for in a partner, then they can certainly introduce you to them faster than you would find them cruising the night clubs or museums. If though, you are looking for an opposite, some of these sites may not be too useful to you as, many of the sites only introduce people of similar thinking to one another, not allowing for the possibility that opposites may attract. The disadvantage of any of these sites though is, you only have what they put about themselves on their profile to go by and some of that may be false, it has even been known for people to use photos of other people as their profile picture. This is obviously morally wrong but some people don’t seem to care about that and the majority of dating sites are not interested in trying to verify anything that people put on their profile pages. This means that you could be susceptible to a con, meeting someone on totally false pretences. For this reason, regardless of which dating site you join, always be aware, first and foremost, of your own personal protection as you can never be 100% sure of exactly who it is you may be meeting. Therefore, before meeting any person that you have met on one of these dating sites, at least for the first time, make sure you inform someone else where you are going, who you expect to meet and an approximate time that you would expect to return. Although these are precautions you should take with any first date, it is probably even more important for a first on-line…

Tips for Writing Autobiography

There are many reasons why people engage themselves in writing their own autobiographies. One reason may be due to the demands of teachers in their language classes. Public clamor may be another reason why a person would write his/her autobiography. Likewise, a person may write an autobiography for the sake of writing it. Looking at these reasons, we could say that the idea of writing an autobiography may seem self-serving, but if we look at some change-makers in the world history, some have utilized the writing of their autobiography in order to bring forward a cause, or an advocacy. Some notable autobiographies are those of Gandhi, Helen Keller, Benjamin, Franklin, Castro, Malcolm X, Rosseau, and Obama. Other autobiographies have also been used in order to impart one’s spiritual teachings like the “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramahansa Yogananda, the “Autobiography of a Soul” by St. Therese of Lisieux, and Saint Augustine’s “Confessions.” Somehow these religious autobiographies have guided their followers to reach religious fulfillment, while other autobiographies which are political, social and philosophical have also guided humanity in its quest for justice and peace. In this article, I have delineated some tips for newbies who want to write their autobiographies. Simple Tips for the Newbies Since you are new to writing and you really want to write your own life story, it would be good to take note of these simple tips to make it easy for you to organize your thoughts in writing an autobiography. First, before you write, you should have an overarching theme which will serve as the general theme of your autobiography. This theme will definitely guide you, especially, in times that you will encounter some writing blocks along the way. You can always revert back to this general theme if you reach a writing snag. After you have decided on your general theme, you can then begin recalling your past by making a list of your relatives, friends, places you have lived throughout your life, institutions and schools you have attended, and jobs you were employed, and noteworthy achievements you have accomplished. Next, you should categorize the different data you have collated. Your categories may include early school days, teenage days, career life, vacations, illnesses, achievements, and many more. After categorizing your experiences and life’s events, you can then write two or three sentences about your experiences relative to the category you have made. You should focus on those life events that are significantly memorable and noteworthy. Start narrating the sequence of the events, and try to write vividly and colorfully, while remembering the texture and nuances of those events. After you have written the series of anecdotes and vignettes that you like to be included in your life story, you can then start polishing and connecting the details, adding up some nuances, and deleting the unnecessary and superfluous details. Lastly, if you feel that you haven’t done a good job in writing your autobiography, you can always consult someone who knows how to refashion…
